Desktop Memo Setup Guide

A desktop memo is a note that stays visible on your desktop at all times — no need to open any app, just look at your screen and it is there. Unlike a system memo app, a true desktop memo embeds transparently over your wallpaper.

In YYNote, the sticky note function serves as your desktop memo. The same feature handles both.

  1. Go to the YYNote download page
  2. Download the Windows version and install
  3. Register an account and sign in
  1. Open YYNote and click New Sticky Note
  2. Type your memo content (meeting notes, to-dos, reminders)
  3. The note automatically sticks to your desktop, fully transparent
  • Transparency: Right-click the note, Transparency, drag the slider (recommended: 50%-70%)
  • Position: Drag the note to a corner of your desktop — it remembers the position on next boot
  • Always on top: Notes stay above other windows by default
  1. Click the system tray icon, Settings
  2. Check “Start with Windows”
  3. Your memo appears automatically every time you boot

A desktop notepad typically refers to a larger text editing area for longer content. A desktop memo focuses on shorter, scannable pieces of information with tag-based organization.

YYNote sticky notes sit in between — individual notes work as memos, and the tagging system gives you notebook-style organization across multiple notes.

  • Meeting notes: Jot down conclusions during meetings, sticky on desktop for post-meeting reference
  • Project reminders: Keep key project milestones on desktop so nothing gets forgotten
  • Daily reminders: Quick capture for anything that comes to mind, organized with tags
