Desktop Organization Guide

Desktop gets cluttered with downloads, documents, shortcuts, and images — not because you are lazy to organize, but because you lack a proper file classification system.

Traditional folder organization requires navigating multiple layers to find a file. A better approach: use transparent sticky notes as a desktop navigation system, so you always know where everything is at a glance.

Place a few transparent sticky notes on your desktop corners, each representing a file category:

  • 📁 Project A Files — shortcut pointing to project folder
  • 📁 This Week Pending — shortcut pointing to a temp folder
  • 📁 Frequently Used Apps — shortcuts to applications

Instead of files scattered across the desktop, you now have note navigation plus shortcut entrances.

  1. Build your folder structure: Create clear category folders in D: or Documents
  2. Place sticky notes on desktop: Each note corresponds to one folder, with the category name as the note title
  3. Notes stay transparent: They do not block your wallpaper, the visual desktop stays clean
  4. Add due-date reminders: For pending tasks, use to-do sticky notes with reminder times
  • 3 main categories: Work, Personal, Projects
  • 2 subfolders per main category: e.g. Work, Client A, Internal Docs
  • Maximum 1 level deep per subfolder: Avoid deep nesting
  • Create a “Pending” folder
  • Process it once daily or weekly
  • Put every processed file back in its proper location — never leave it on the desktop
