How to Migrate Your Data to YYNote?

When switching from another tool to YYNote, the first question is: Can I bring my existing data over?
Honest answer: YYNote does not yet support data import. The PC version does allow you to export your data (Settings → System Tray → Export) for backup purposes, but there’s no way to import data from other tools directly.
Here are a few practical migration strategies.
Option 1: Manually Migrate Your Most Important Items
Section titled “Option 1: Manually Migrate Your Most Important Items”Most people’s todo lists have only a handful of truly important items — usually a few dozen at most.
Steps:
- Open your old tool and pick out the most important tasks
- Create them one by one in YYNote
- Use tags to organize them
Bonus: this is a great excuse to clean up your list. Things that have been sitting undone for months probably aren’t getting done anyway.
Option 2: Migrate as You Go
Section titled “Option 2: Migrate as You Go”You don’t have to move everything in one day:
- Start putting new tasks directly into YYNote
- As you complete tasks in your old tool, create them in YYNote
- Cross them off as you go
In about two weeks, your old tool will be empty naturally.
Option 3: Export Your Data for Reference
Section titled “Option 3: Export Your Data for Reference”YYNote’s PC version supports data export, which saves all your data as an Excel file. This is useful for:
- Keeping a local backup
- Reviewing your data outside the app
It’s a good idea to export regularly — in case you switch computers or need to reinstall.
Export Capabilities by Tool
Section titled “Export Capabilities by Tool”If you just want to get your data out of your old tool:
| Tool | Export Support |
|---|---|
| TickTick | Supported |
| Microsoft To Do | No direct export |
| Wunderlist | Supported |
| System Notes | Copy/paste |
You can keep the exported data as a reference, but it cannot be imported into YYNote directly yet.
Final Thoughts
Section titled “Final Thoughts”No flashy new features, just continuous refinement. You can change your tool, but you can’t change the habit of managing your tasks.
